What “limited” means when the cover is minted, not shrink-wrapped
Edition size on a Spider-Verse digital cover is a design decision. We lock the number before inks so the fraction can live inside the art.
A bagged newsstand variant tells you the print run on a sticker or in a price guide years later. A minted cover has to say the same thing in two places at once: in the art, and in the ledger. If those two disagree, the piece is awkward to resell and awkward to show.
At Module Pathcore we treat the fraction — 12 of 25, for example — as part of the cover design. It might sit in a street sign, on a water tower, or in the negative space of a web. That only works if the edition size is agreed before inks. Changing from 25 to 50 after colour would mean redrawing the bug and reminting, which we will not do on a live drop.
Limited does not mean scarce theatre. It means the studio will not issue a twenty-sixth file of that composition. If you want a related image, that is a new cover or a paired variant, with its own number.
